The Quinones Family

Making Friends, Growing in Faith & Living With Purpose.

Just one year ago, the Quinones family was looking for a Christian community where kids and parents could grow in faith together. Having been a part of both traditional church and house church experiences, Elliott and Miranda hadn’t found the right fit. Miranda remembers, “We felt that our kids were not building relationships and growing in their faith.”

So they began to seek a church with strong kids and student environments where their children (then ages 12, 9, and 6) could grow in faith. They remembered that Access Church had held Camp95 in their neighborhood just a couple of summers before. It had seemed full of kids and excitement, so they decided to visit Access last January.

“Our first visit was great!” they recall. “Our kids were immediately engaged, and we were welcomed right in. The band was amazing, and all the leaders were very friendly.” On that very first Sunday, they asked how to connect in authentic community, and within a few weeks, they had jumped into a weekly community group and attended a parenting event hosted by Justin Smith and the student ministry team.

Soon Miranda and Elliott were asking about serving. “We felt it was important to serve and to be connected to the body.” They jumped right in with student ministry. “Serving has helped us build friendships with the other volunteer leaders and encourage the students who attend, including our own. Access has given us practical help for connecting our kids in a faith-building environment. The staff and volunteers have the same faith goals for our kids and try to engage in their interests and point them towards the Bible and Jesus. We feel God has put us at Access to help us feel connected and allow our kids to be surrounded with other people who love God just the same.”

Last summer Elliott and Eian (13 years old) traveled to Costa Rica with our globalX partner, 6:8 Ministries. It was so impactful that they returned to Costa Rica in December with the whole family, delivering Christmas presents to needy children. They’ve also served locally at Seamark Ranch and given Christmas presents to children whose parents are in prison through our partnership with Prison Fellowship. In fact, less than a year after their first visit to Access, it’s hard to find an area of the church where the Quinones family hasn’t jumped in!

Your generous giving in 2021 has helped this family, and so many others, grow in faith. Thank you for putting your faith in action by demonstrating in a tangible way that God owns everything. Thank you for believing yourself to be a manager of God’s resources and for deploying those resources in a way that changes entire families!

What would the Quinones family say to you today? “Without Access we would not have been able to serve people in need nearly as much. To the Access Church volunteers and donors, we would like to say thank you for giving our family all these opportunities to serve and grow in our faith. But most of all we are thankful that our children are in a great place to learn about God and feel his love through the people here.”
