Breathing Room

BreathingRoom_FacebookMany people today are living lives with no margin. Schedules are crammed full of activities, finances are stretched, and relationships are strained. Access Church is tackling this issue head-on beginning January 4 in a four-part series, “Breathing Room,” with Andy Stanley of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, GA.

Andy said, “When we live these fast-paced lives, we might look around and say ‘This is just the way life is’ or ‘Everyone else’s life looks like this.’ But what if we could find room to breathe in our schedules, our finances, and our relationships?”

Everyone has a limit. Every person has a point at which he or she cannot cram anything else into the schedule or into the finances. “If a person lives life at the limit, at some point he or she will quit enjoying life,” said Rich Barrett, lead pastor at Access Church. “The goal of ‘Breathing Room’ is to help people take an honest look at what drives their schedules, their spending, and their relationships, and regain control.”

When there is no margin relationally or financially, stress levels go up, focus narrows, and relationships suffer. “Breathing Room” will explore the reasons why so many continue to live lives with no breathing room despite the additional stress this pace causes.

According to Andy, fear is one of the reasons people live lives without margin. “Fear a big part of what drives our schedules, our spending, and our relationships,” he said. “We’re afraid of missing out or our kids missing out, we’re afraid of falling behind and not keeping up with our neighbors, and we’re afraid that our lives won’t count for anything. Without realizing it, we equate busy-ness and spending with how much we matter.”

“Breathing Room” begins Sunday, January 4 at 9:00 and 10:30am at 4911 Losco Road. All are welcome.
